Dear Patients,
I hope this message finds you well and that you and your family are safe and healthy during this unprecedented time.
We know that providing a safe environment for our patients and our employees will be of utmost importance as we enter a “new normal”. Our approach follows all of the guidelines from the CDC and local health officials for specialty medical practices. Some of our new protocols include:
- Social distancing techniques that include fewer patients and providers in the offices
- Assessing patients for COVID-19 risks prior to coming into the office
- Temperature checks of all patients
- All Edison Ophthalmology staff will be wearing personal protective equipment at all times
We want to ensure you that we have enhanced safety precautions. While we are putting extensive safety measures in place, we understand that some patients will prefer to delay treatment or conduct a video visit. For these patients, we will continue to care for them remotely.
Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in our office or on your phone or computer screen soon.
With gratitude,
Edison Ophthalmology Staff.

What is a Virtual Visit?
A virtual visit is similar to an office visit, only instead of traveling to see your doctor you can video conference with them from your home. Our providers can assess symptoms, make a diagnosis, recommend treatment, and send prescriptions electronically to your pharmacy. This visit will attempt to replicate your office visit however may have limitations due to the communication method. Call your provider’s office to determine if a Virtual Visit will work for you. Virtual Visits are simple, efficient, and secure.

Will my insurance cover a Virtual Visit?
Commercial Insurance carriers as well as Medicare have temporarily expanded their telehealth coverage to respond to the current Public Health Emergency. During this time, you will be able to receive evaluation and management services through telehealth visits (common office visits). This will help ensure you are able to visit with your doctor from your home, without having to go to a doctor’s office or hospital, which puts you and others at risk of exposure to COVID-19. Many commercial insurance carriers have agreed to waive co-pays for virtual visits. Therefore, we will not be collecting co-payment at the time of service but will follow your insurance carriers explanation of benefits regarding billing. Medicare may assess your usual coinsurance and deductible for these services.
Wishing you good health and safety,
